In
my academic career, sometimes when I had to write my paper I would be
at a complete loss for what to use as essay topics. I did not want to
begin to write my paper and realize that whichever of the essay
topics I had chosen did not have enough information. Likewise, I
found that other essay topics were too general and I could not manage
to be specific when I decided to write my paper. I realized that the
essay topics were very important to consider before I even thought to
write my paper.
I
decided that there were certain steps which had to be taken before
beginning to write my paper. The most important of these steps seemed
to be carefully considering the essay topics I had been presented
with or chosen. I had to see which of these essay topics had enough
information in order to write my paper more easily.
I took the essay
topics that I wanted to use to write my paper and searched for
information on all of the essay topics in order to see how much
information I would have to write my paper. This was very important
because I wanted to make sure that I had enough information in order
to make a solid argument but not too much that I would have to waste
a lot of time reading. I found this to be very helpful and a better
approach than having a set argument, writing the paper, and then
looking for sources in order to support the paper. It was much easier
to write the paper around the sources that I had already found
instead of trying to supplement a paper that I had already written
with sources that didn’t quite fit.
